In Indiana, police officers put out a rather unusual warning for Walmart customers to beware of an aggressive goose that has made the parking lot its home. On April 16, 2019, without being provoked, the wild bird viciously attacked two Walmart shoppers in the parking lot.

Fortunately, the victims of the attack only suffered minor injuries. Lucky for them, because geese have the capacity to severely injure humans if they feel threatened. Regarding the attacks, the police wrote, “Geese can be territorial and aggressive. Please be aware of your surroundings and keep a safe distance from wild animals.”

According to Sgt. Tom Weger, the victims of the goose attack did nothing wrong and were attacked out of nowhere. For some unknown reason, the bird felt uncomfortable and threatened, so it violently lashed out at the shoppers.

Werner continued saying “These animals are considered an endangered species. They are highly protected. You cannot harass them, engage them or assault them in any way, shape or form. If you’re involved in an incident with one of these animals and they are injured, you’re going to have to be able to explain exactly what happened.”

So, even if you are attacked by a rogue goose, your only real options are either to suffer through the attack or try and run away as fast as you can. If you end up harming the bird, it could lead to serious consequences on your behalf.
