America’s Top 10 Favorite Doughnut Flavors

June 7th is National Doughnut Day and of course we're here to celebrate it. While doughnuts are a welcomed treat any day of the year, we all need to take a moment to celebrate the delicious food on this particular day. Doughnuts go way back in history-- the first mention of the food was in Washington Irving's A History of New York, from the Beginning of the World to the End of the Dutch Dynasty. That was back in 1809!

While we don't have any photographic evidence, we're sure doughnuts have come a long way since then. Originating in the Netherlands, the Dutch call donuts oliekoek, meaning, "sweetened cake fried in fat." In America, we have our own preferences when it comes to doughnut flavors and bakers get more creative with the ingredients every year.
