ABC Reveals First Look At ‘The Little Mermaid Live!’

The Little Mermaid seems to be getting the recognition it deserves as one of the best Disney movies. Disney announced earlier this year that there will be a live-action movie coming out in the future. For those who can't wait for that, there will also be a live-action television special coming to ABC. The network has finally released the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated The Little Mermaid Live!

The performance stars Auli'i Cravalho as Ariel, who was the voice of Moana in the Disney animation of the same name. The rest of the cast includes Queen Latifah as Ursula, Shaggy as Sebastian, John Stamos as Chef Louis, and Graham Phillips as Prince Eric. The iconic roles of King Triton and Flounder have yet to be announced.

According to ABC, the live special will have a mix of live-action, puppetry, and even scenes from the original animation.

"[It is a] never-before-seen hybrid format that will take viewers on a magical adventure under the sea as live musical performances by a star-studded cast are interwoven into the broadcast of the original feature film," said ABC in a statement.

ABC's president of entertainment, Karey Burke, said it will be "unlike anything that any network has done before in terms of live-action musical."

The Little Mermaid Live! is set to air on November 5th as part of Disney's 30th-anniversary celebration. Less than a month to go until we get to go under the sea again!
