Yosemite National Park is visited by over 4 million people every year. In 2016 a record amount of people, five million, visited the national park in California. May through September are the busiest months for tourism. If you’re looking for more peace and serenity while exploring Yosemite, you may find that the winter provides the most magical experience. A winter sunset at The Gates of the Valley, Yosemite National Park, in the California Sierra. The water of the Merced River reflected the alpenglow striking El Capitan high above. It was cold enough that the tufts of snow were covered in perfectly formed spiky ice crystals.

The natural fire fall on the rock formation known as El Capitan about to begin. The fire fall happens once a year during late February. A combination water falling from Horsetail fall, clear atmospheric conditions, and late afternoon sun are all needed to make the fire fall appear. Hundreds of nature watchers line up near El Capitan to see this phenomenon.
