Meet Jules Gudkova. She’s a 21-year-old Russian singer, make-up artist, and cosplay wizard. She can transform herself into pretty much any character, but she especially loves cosplaying as Disney characters and cartoon characters.
Jules uses makeup to completely transform her face. Then she adds costumes and some digital effects in the background to complete the look. Keep reading to see Jules transform into characters from Star Wars, The Avengers, Finding Nemo, and so many more.
It’s Hard To Tell Which Is Jules And Which Is Merida
Merida is a recent Disney princess from Scotland who rebels against her country’s tradition and asserts herself as a powerful female force. The movie she’s in is called Brave because Merida is the very definition of the word.
For this cosplay, Jules dressed up as the version of Merida featured in a photo released last year of all of the Disney princesses at a slumber party. This is casual Merida.
Sabrina Is Winking At Us
After the success of Riverdale, Netflix released another show about an old-timey comic series. Kiernan Shipka (who we know as Sally Draper from Mad Men) plays the title character in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Jules is channeling her inner teenage witch for this cosplay. We love how she captured Kiernan’s pronounced eyebrows and signature wink. The Polaroid-style background is a nice touch, too. If you squint a little bit, you would totally think this is a photo of Kiernan.
Who Knew We Needed Two Mathildas?
In this photo, Jules is cosplaying as a very battered and bruised Mathilda from Léon: The Professional. This was Natalie Portman’s first movie role, and it was a pretty violent movie role for a twelve-year-old. Still, this movie totally made us fall in love with the actress, and Jules wanted to pay homage to that fact.
Cosplay is a great way to honor the art that you find meaningful in your life.
Jessica Rabbit Is A Cosplay Classic
Don’t we all kind of wish that we could look like Jessica Rabbit? Well, Jules turned that wish into a reality. She looks every bit the part in this photo. Jessica Rabbit was first introduced in Who Censored Roger Rabbit? and then reintroduced in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
She has since become a cartoon icon. This character is the definition of allure. Jessica Rabbit is well-known for the quote, “I’m not bad, I was just drawn that way.”
A Rare Red Carpet Cosplay
Usually, Jules dresses up as cartoons or fictional characters, but this time, she decided to cosplay as a real person. This is Jules as Scarlett Johansson as she looked when she walked the red carpet. We’re not sure if the jewels on Jules’ hand are real, or if they were added after in the editing process.
Do you think Jules looks a bit like Samantha Jones from Sex and the City in this photo?
A Magnificent Maleficent Cosplay
If you’re going to call yourself a Disney cosplayer, you have to at some point tackle Maleficent. She is one of the most iconic villains in Disney history, and Angelina Jolie put a whole new spin on her look and her character.
Cosplayers have been recreating this look since the Maleficent film came out, but we particularly love Jules’ take on the villain. There’s a sort of vulnerability in her eyes that’s really interesting.
An Underrated Character From An Underrated Film
If you ask me, Atlantis: The Lost Empire is one of the greatest films in Disney’s repertoire, but it’s one that doesn’t get a lot of attention. This movie has it all: adventure, betrayal, love, sacrifice, glowing tattoos… In this photo, Jules is cosplaying as Lieutenant Helga Katrina Sinclair, Rourke’s German second-in-command, and lieutenant.
She may be a villain in the movie, but she’s a very good looking villain, which is rare in children’s cartoons.
A Cosplay Corpse Bride
Jules looks stunning as Emily from Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride. Emily is something of a tragic figure. She dies mysteriously and she doesn’t get to marry the hero of the story. She does get some sweet revenge, though, so that’s pretty nice.
Jules looks very Tim Burton-y in this cosplay. She gave herself some signature Tim Burton eyebrows and she hollowed out her cheekbones with a whole lot of contour.
Gisele And Jules Look Like They Could Be Twins
This is a photo of Jules cosplaying as Gisele from Disney’s Enchanted. In that movie, a cartoon princess finds herself thrust into a live action world. Actually that seems like a perfect description of Jules. Jules looks like she belongs in an animate fairytale most of the time.
In this photo, Jules has chosen to dress up as the live action version of Gisele, though. Check out Jules’ Instagram to see her as the cartoon version of the same character.
Coraline Is Cute And Creepy At The Same Time
Tim Burton’s Coraline, about a girl who gets trapped in an alternate dimension, resonated with fans of the director all over the world. We all saw a bit of ourselves in Coraline, but Jules saw enough of herself in the character that she decided to fully transform into her.
Coraline the movie is based on a book by Neil Gaiman. When asked about Coraline’s name, Neil responded, “I had typed the name Caroline, and it came out wrong. I looked at the word Coraline, and knew it was someone’s name. I wanted to know what happened to her.”
Princess Anna Doesn’t Get Enough Love
Frozen was one of Disney’s most popular movies. Kids everywhere couldn’t get enough of “Let It Go.” Their parents wished they would let it go, though. There are only so many times you can listen to that song… anyway, every little girl wants to be Queen Elsa. Princess Anna just doesn’t get enough love.
That’s why we’re so glad to see Jules cosplaying as Anna rather than Elsa, although we’re sure she would make a great Elsa too.
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let Down Your Hair
It does seem like Jules has a thing for the newer Disney princesses— and we don’t blame her. These characters are strong women who don’t need a prince to save them. The same can’t really be said for Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty.
Jules looks adorable as Rapunzel from Tangled in this photo. Now all she needs is a little Pascal sitting on her shoulder. Every good Disney princess needs an animal sidekick.
Vanellope Is A Disney Girl That Weirdos Can Get Behind
Vanellope von Schweetz definitely isn’t a princess. This character, voiced by comedian Sarah Silverman, is more of a glitch than anything else, but we love her for it. What would Wreck-It-Ralph be without Vanellope von Schweetz?
Jules’ cosplay is pretty perfect in this photo, as it always is. We wonder where she got all of those hair clips. She probably made most of them herself. You have to be a DIY queen to be good at cosplay.
A New Take On A Classic Fairy
We’ve all seen Tinkerbell in the Peter Pan movies. She’s a jealous little fairy who’s nothing if not loyal to her best friend, Peter. Artist Fernanda Suarez drew this picture of Tink (on the left) that gave Jules some inspiration for her next cosplay. This version of Tinkerbell kind of looks a bit like actress Margot Robbie.
This is probably what Tinkerbell would look like if she was an Instagram model.
Ariel And Ursula, Side By Side
In this photo, Jules is cosplaying as both Ariel and Ursula in their human forms. This is the outfit that Ariel wears on the boat on her first date with Prince Eric. On the left of the photo is the form that Ursula takes when she comes to the surface to bewitch Eric so she can marry him before Ariel’s contract is up.
We love how she’s portraying their different attitudes in this photo.
Mirror, Mirror On The Wall, Is That Two Fionas We See?
Princess Fiona from Dreamworks’ Shrek is the fiery redhead who lives as a princess by day and an ogre by night. She falls in love with Shrek and decides that she wants to be an ogre with him for the rest of her life. They live happily ever after, and they get a bunch of sequel films.
In this photo, Jules is channeling early Fiona, from before we even knew she was living a double life.
Remember Celia From Monsters, Inc.?
Jennifer Tilly provides the voice of Mike Wazowski’s girlfriend, Celia, in Monsters, Inc. Celia’s appearance is based on Medusa from Greek mythology— a woman with snakes for hair who can turn you to stone with a single glance.
For this cosplay, Jules went for a less literal take on the character, replacing her purple snake hair with a cropped purple wig. She also still has two eyes, but there’s not much she can do about that.
Cowgirls Have To Stick Together
This is a photo of Jules cosplaying as Jesse from the Toy Story movies. Jesse was introduced in Toy Story 2, and she’s been a part of the franchise ever since. Jesse is a tough girl with a soft side. Even though she and Buzz have a romantic storyline, that’s not the focus of her character.
Jesse is voiced by Joan Cusack, and we couldn’t imagine a better voice for the role.
This Is What Debbie Would Look Like In Live Action
A live action version of The Wild Thornberrys wouldn’t be such a bad idea. It’s interesting that Jules decided to cosplay as Debbie rather than Eliza, but she does look more like Debbie than Eliza.
In The Wild Thornberrys, Debbie finds out about Eliza’s ability to speak to animals, but Eliza swears her to secrecy. You can’t just have everyone and their mom knowing that you can talk to animals. Some things have to stay on the down low.
Blossom Is The Best Powerpuff Girl
Sugar and spice and everything nice— that’s what went into this cosplay. Maybe a little bit of that secret “X” potion as well… you never know. While all of the Powerpuff Girls are adorable, we thing Blossom is the cutest one. Jules must think so also because she chose to dress up as her.
Jules does apparently have a thing for red wigs, so maybe that’s why she chose Blossom over Bubbles and Buttercup.
Princess Bubblegum In The Flesh
Jules looks absolutely stunning as Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time. We were so sad to see Adventure Time end in September of 2018, but just because the show is over, that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. We can still have our cosplay adventures.
We’ve seen Princess Bubblegum through a lot over the years. This epic leader and scientist had a lot of issues to work out, but in the end, she got her happy ending.
Is That Black Widow Or Jules?
Black Widow, AKA Natasha Romanova, is a Marvel superhero who’s played by Scarlett Johansson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We already know that Jules can make herself look a lot like Scarlett Johansson, but the resemblance here is uncanny.
We like how Jules even added tears to this look. Good cosplay is all in the details. We think Jules might even look more like Scarlett Johansson than Scarlett Johansson. This is wild.
Another Black Widow Look
Black Widow is shaping up to be a signature character for Jules. It makes total sense for this Russian cosplayer to dress up as a superhero with a Russian backstory. The character was initially introduced to the Marvel universe as a Russian spy. She was Iron Man’s antagonist, but then she switched sides and became a member of The Avengers.
In the movies, Black Widow has had a couple of looks. In this photo, Jules is trying out her short hair look.
This Princess Leia Cosplay Is Out Of This World
We love how Jules and the real Princess Leia look like mirror images of each other in this photo. Princess Leia is another strong female character who really didn’t need Han or Luke to save her. Also, Carrie Fisher completely brought the role to life.
In this cosplay, Jules has totally captured Leia’s rosy cheeks, stare, and signature hairstyle. She really does look like she’s from a galaxy far, far away.
Call Me, Beep Me, If You Want To Reach Me
Kim Possible is a very popular cosplay choice because of how simple her clothes are. Really all you need is a black crop top, some cargo pants, a belt, and a pair of black gloves. If you already have red hair, you may not even need a wig.
Jules looks super fierce in this photo. We especially love how she’s only put lipstick on her top lip to show off that signature Kim Possible pout.
Classic Elastigirl In Her Original Costume
At the beginning of the first Incredibles movie, we get to see the superheroes as they were before they had to conceal their powers. Back in the day, before she married Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl wore this outfit.
People have cosplayed as Elastigirl before, but we don’t often see people dress up as this version of Elastigirl. It’s a unique take on a classic Disney costume, and Jules is rocking it better than anybody.
There Must Be More Than This Provincial Life
Belle from Beauty and the Beast wanted adventure in the great wide somewhere. Now she’s a real person walking around on real streets and posting real pictures on Instagram, so maybe she got her wish.
We love that Jules decided to cosplay as this version of Belle rather than Belle in her giant yellow ballgown. That’s a great look too, but this one is more achievable for people who maybe want to try cosplay for the first time.
Don’t Forget About The Minor Disney Characters
Everyone likes to cosplay as Belle or Ariel, but what about the chorus Disney characters? What about all of Ariel’s mermaid sisters? Or the fish in the background of “Under the Sea” for that matter? These minor characters deserve some cosplay love too.
Jules looks very aquatic as one of Ariel’s older sisters in this photo. King Triton has a lot of daughters, so there’s a lot more cosplay fun to be had.
Don’t Tap On The Glass
This must have been a super fun cosplay to create. Darla from Finding Nemo has such a unique look, plus, if you dress up like her, you get to rock some sweet headgear. I love the look Jules is giving the camera in this photo. It’s menacing, yet kind of charming at the same time.
We’re kind of bummed that we didn’t get to see Darla again in Finding Dory.
Jules As Dipper Pines’ Major Crush
This is a photo of Jules cosplaying as Wendy Corduroy, a part-time employee at the Mystery Shack in Gravity Falls. In the show, she’s voiced by actress Linda Cardellini (who recently appeared in Green Book).
Dipper Pines, the main character in Gravity Falls, has a huge crush on Wendy, even though she’s quite a bit older than him. It must be the hat. That is a very attractive hat. Clearly, Jules has good taste in cartoons.
