Employees Won’t Tell You About These Home Depot Hacks

Pennying Out

When Home Depot removes an item from sale, they “penny out” the item. In other words, the item will be worth one penny in Home Depot’s eyes. If you manage to find an item before a worker can pull it off the shelf, you can buy it for $0.01.

Usually, a product has to remain in clearance for over six months to penny out. Items on Home Depot’s website will never indicate the sale; you’ll have to go to the store. Check the price with a worker or at the self-checkout machine.
