Alliance Defense Fund: Destroying Families
"And Jesus said,
'Thou shalt go out among them and thou shalt litigate.'"
Pharisee 3:16

It comes as no surprise that Focus on the Family supports the efforts of the Alliance Defense Fund. In the article, PIECES OF THE FAMILY PUZZLE, (from Focus on the Family magazine, October, 1995) FOF cites four examples of ADF involvement, two of which have to do with gay issues, one involving child molestation and one involving a campus newspaper.

In the first tragic example, the ADF awarded funds to "Karen"* to help pay for an expert witness to testify against her husband, "Susan" in a child custody dispute. Susan is a transsexual living as a woman. "I didn't want the children to see him," Karen said. "Jesus says it would be better for a man to have a millstone put around his neck and be cast into the sea than to harm a child. Richard (Susan) would harm our children if they saw their father today."

Fortunately the efforts of the ADF failed and "Susan" is allowed unsupervised, face-to-face visits with her children.

Whether splitting apart a family by denying a father the right to see his children is less harmful than children seeing their father sexually reassigned is debatable. Perhaps there are millstones reserved for "Karen" and the hypocritical, family-busting ADF and Focus on the Family.

And while we at PostFun generally frown on the hyperliteralization of the Bible perhaps "Susan" was trying to ensure that her children followed Christ's commandment "to call no man your father upon the earth".

The ADF and Focus on the Family must have jumped for joy on reading about the Florida judge who awarded custody to the father of an eleven-year-girl. (SF Chronicle, February 3, 1996) She had been living with her single, Lesbian mother. The judge was quoted as wanting "...to give the daughter a chance to live in a nonlesbian world." The father, who spent 8 years in prison for murdering his first wife (he shot her) should be able to provide the child with a home life consistent with American, Christian values.

"And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a probate mind..."
Romans 1:28

In another case, the ADF paid money to Chester Darling, a Massachusetts attorney, to bone up on arguments he planned to make to the supreme court against allowing gays, lesbians and bisexuals in Boston's annual St. Patrick's Day parade. The court ruled unanimously that the organizers could exclude the gay groups. The "logic" had something to do with "the state of Massachusetts attempting to coerce the veterans to endorse homosexual speech, and the U.S. Constitution does not permit the government to coerce speech." Let's hope the parade never falls on a Thursday.
