Educational Background
The Reverend Nelson earned an AB in Humanities from Penn State University in 1961, a BD from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1964, an MA from University of Chicago in 1966, and a Ph.D. from University of Chicago in 1971.Professional Background
He worked with inner-city gangs in Chicago in 60's and taught Systematic Theology at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary from 1969 to 1979. He is the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Trenton, from 1979 to present. He has authored articles on Providence and Meaning in History, theological futurism, and Paul Tillich's Theological Method, et.al. He is the author of a book on American popular culture and religious belief systems, called, Your God is Alive and Well and Appearing in Popular Culture, from Westminster Press.Personal Background
He is an accomplished musician/singer, and has performed solo with guitar, and in folk and bluegrass and country bands for 35 years: The Highlanders, Highlanders II, Cucumber Rapids and Life's Other Side. He is an expert on biblical theology and the Book of Revelation. He is married with four children living, one deceased.He is interested in responding to the theological and Biblical concerns of readers.
