October 2000 Newsletter: Christian Porn and Horror

Everyone needs pornography, of one type or another. The eye craves gratuitous images of waste; wasted love, wasted lives - sex, violence, or both. Repress it, but pornography will haunt your dreams, erupting subconsciously, dominating your best intentions. Conservative Christians strive valiantly to repress pornography. Yet it erodes the fabric of their discourse, expressed in images of Hell, the end of the world, and of course, abortion.

Early in 1995 Christian writers, reviving the millennia old practice of "blood libel" - accusing one's enemies of eating children, began spreading the rumor that the Chinese were feasting on the "unborn". Why? In 1995 their three most despised enemies, communists, women, and the Clintons, were meeting for the Fourth Annual Conference on Women in Beijing. In the article Eating Fetuses: The Lurid Christian Fantasy of Godless Chinese Eating "Unborn Children", Adult Christianity traces the path this rumor took - from a G.W. Bush advisor's Christian magazine, to the halls of Congress.

And if that article isn't enough to prime your imagination for Halloween we offer for your amusement Christian Pornography. In their attempts to frighten the devil out of you Christian authors David Wilkerson, Bob Harrington, and Bob Larson lapse into full-blown pornography. While Wilkerson and Harrington offer 60's style soft porn, Larson's fantasies of Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA) are guaranteed to both shock, and sicken.

Filthy Days Are Here Again is a circa 1930's Bible tract protesting the silent movie "Our Dancing Daughters". The retro style is charming, and the message contemporary. What we found while researching is that this tract was published by an anti-Semitic publisher, who ran for US Senate and was later investigated by the US government for sedition. His pornographic tirades against the Jews are still quoted today on White Supremacist web sites.
