October Newsletter:
Some Slightly Scarey Stuff
MENU

Dear Reader,

Many of you have written me about some pretty scarey experiences you've had within fundamentalist organizations. I've added one of my own entitled, Come Hell or High Water. Kevin Lambert has submitted a three part series called, Scandals in Eden which chronicles the misguided activities of Billy James Hargis, Reverend Harold Davidson (eaten by a lion) and others.

On a more serious note, October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Much of what passes for religious training in this country is nothing less than abuse, and is, when practiced on a child, child abuse. Please take this quiz, originally prepared by Marin Abused Women's Services (doctored by moi), and see if any of the questions describe your relationship with your diety. And if they do, consider getting professional help.

On the lighter side we've included a The Monthly Beast Self Exam you can take to test yourself for the mark of the beast - the dreaded 666. Kirl Israel was nice enough to debug Sheila Sharkey's Typing in Tongues Interpretter, so version 1.0 is now out and supported by both Netscape and Internet Explorer. Visit Kirk's site, Blender of Love, the voice of romance on the web.

On September 22nd we were awarded the Cruel Site of the Day. Later in the month we earned a 4 star review in Web Magazine and an interview in Wired News. The San Jose Mercury News is covering PostFeminist Playground and devoting a paragraph to The Week in Fashion Prophecy. On October 16 several of us cyber-vixens are meeting at CyberWorld Cafe in San Francisco to talk about our sites and women on the Internet at "Babes in Boyland." Write me for details.

With love,

Poppy
