December 1998 I am a pro-choice Catholic. My church has never stated (and never will)when the fetus becomes a person. Knowing that I believe the decision of whether or not to terminate an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy rests with the individual free from outside interference. A decision made in good conscience can never be sinful, at least not in the eyes of God, what anyone else thinks does not matter. If you are pro-choice and Catholic (or just pro-choice) might I suggest visiting this website www.cath4choice.org Your web page had enlightened me about many things. I'm catholic and I was thought that abortion was wrong, (even I never believed) but you gave me more reassons to think that every one has the right to decide about their bodies and that being catholic does not ment to be against abortion. Thanks a lot. If a women makes the choice to have sex, she has the choice to do what is right for her mind and body!! As a teacher of moral studies and R.S. I support the Pro-Choice movement - people who wish to inflict irrelevant fundamentalist doctrine have no concept of reality, humanity or sensitivity. They can quote the bible, eloquently forgetting it was meant for another time and another place. The bible is largely irrelevant today except the teachings of Jesus, who said nothing about such issues. St Paul is, as always, one of the problems. People need to realise that Christianity is about Jesus' words and actions, not the old testament or the deranged self-righteous ramblings of a man who changed his mind to suit the fashionable trends of the time. I really enjoy reading your article about xxx-rated bible.
Thanks for your intelligent work. You have changed my thoughts on abortion forever. Thank You for explaining the truth to me. I am using this web page with other info to present to a class of fifty students in a philosophy class at a small Christian Liberal Arts College, in middle America. Though I don't necessarily agree with your point, at least I was forced to think, and look at it from another perspective. Thanks for providing the info, I hope that it causes some others to at least think why they believe something, not jsut accept it. What if the baby you were going to abort was going to grow up to be Hitler? Jeffrey Dahmer? Peter Sutcliffe? TED DANSON, fer crissake??? How can you deny legions of Christians the opportunity to suffer at the hand of "Satan"?? I really like this page. It presents information from the Bible that I had never noticed or heard... I can't wait for the next debate! :) I find it interesting that a major tenet of Christianity is "free will". Every Christian I have ever met stands by this notion very strongly. It seems a definite contradiction to me then that the agenda of the religious right is to take away the choice of other American's, ie, abortion. If God gave us free will then he alone can judge if abortion is wrong! It's then obvious that the religious right has placed their own agenda above God's gift of free will! You guys are FUN-NEE! Thank you. we need you. I am pleased to report that I have finally posted my long-awaited sermon on the topic of Christian Tantric Sexuality on my Psychosexual Theology Website. This controversial sermon [was] written in response to someone's consternation about priestly pederasty. Reverentially yours, Rev. Howard Furst *laugh* Just when I'd given up on hope for the human race... Your page is simply wonderful! You have no idea how nice it is to see anything with brains behind it these days! (let alone research) And yes, in response to one letter I saw: I did notice that the most bigoted opinions had the worst spelling and syntax. Their rather hateful images of what 'God' would do to 'our kind' was rather imaginative though. (I still havent figured out exactly what 'our kind' is though - an entirely separate species from 'their kind' I hope.) - Rebecca i just had to write and compliment you on your site. It is the only christian site i visit. I am wiccan. Was Catholic for way too many yrs. Please keep up the wonderful work. Bless you all!!! It never surprises me how narrow minded people can be. If only they would read the bible without anyone telling them what it says, maybe they would soon see it is only the word of man and not god. I love your picture, your artistry, and your site. Your work is the freshest thing I've seen in recreational Christianity since The Church of the Subgenius was in its heyday Hi, I am a 15 year old male who stumbled onto your page while searching for Abortion. I am currently in an Oral Communications class in the 9th grade. The topic we are now working on is debating issues. The side I chose was the affirmative side of abortion. After reading through your Abortion Rights and the biblical phrases, I have completely turned for abortion. I personally want to thank you for having this site with the information provided and all other content. In addition to all of the knowledge I have gained, this will further my affirmative side and hopefully lead others to think the way I have. Once again, I want to thank you for this page, and the dedication you have put into it. This is a really cool site. I'm doing research for a school debate on abortion and lately all I could find was negative info on abortion. I'm pro-choice and it's good to know that I'm not the only one who thinks that God would understand! |
