Steve Wilsey, a Focus on the Family youth counselor, was convicted of sexual assault on a child, having molested an 8-year-old boy. Wilsey had offered to "mentor" a fellow FOTF employee's three young sons. The mother took him up on the offer after hearing a FOTF radio spot that claimed "fatherless boys faced a special risk for homosexuality."
Wilsey faces anywhere from twelve years probation to life in prison.

An unnamed 19-year-old girl from Monza began shouting "in a cavernous voice and as if in a fit of rage" during an audience with the pope. The pope exorcized the girl, and talked with her for about half an hour. She was temporarily calmed, but later her symptoms reappeared.

Just before being confirmed for his 1995 Senate seat, John Ashcroft gathered his family around the living room for a word of prayer. Ashcroft wondered if "...I might be anointed as the kings of Israel were..." A bowl of Crisco was brought from the kitchen and the family knelt to baste and pray for their new king. I sh*t you not. Rev. William Michael Altman, pastor of Grace Christian Ministries in West Mifflin, will be arraigned on charges of swindling his congregation, and missing funds. One million dollars is missing from church offerings. Timothy Cassidy, a fellow church work who has defended Altman, is also being charged.

Christopher Eric Stubblefield, a phys. ed. teacher at Portland Christian School has been accused of child molestation and rape. The three girls involved were ages 6 and 7. The crimes happened on school property. Stubblefield had passed background checks when he was hired.

Clinton Critic No Longer Feels Himself10.04.00 Atlanta GA
Matthew J. Glavin has been charged with public indecency. He works for the Southeastern legal Foundation that is seeking to have President Clinton disbarred for lying about Paula Jones. Glavin was found on a Chattahoochee River trail fondling himself, and then an undercover federal officer.
Glavin has pleaded guilty and faces a $5000 fine, a year in prison, and three years probation. Glavin had pleaded no contest to a previous charge in 1996.

Paul Washington Sr. abducted his 10-year old grandson from his gay son, claiming the boy was not being exposed to heterosexual women. The grandfather complained that the boy was not playing sports, but enrolled in "ballet and gay arts" classes.

Jeb Lets Ex-Con Vote10.10.00 Florida
Florida's governor Jeb Bush restored convicted felon Charles Colson's right to vote, serve on juries, and practice law. Colson, a Watergate defendant, spent seven months in prison for obstruction of justice.
Colson's right to vote was restored just in time for the November presidential election. Also in time for the election - Katherine Harris hired a Texas company staffed with Republicans to purge the Florida voter rolls of convicted felons. Many Floridians, who had never been arrested, were turned away from the polls on November 2 due to their "felony convictions."

CC Sued for Libel01.01 Oklahoma
Christian Coalition voter guides claimed that incumbent Oklahoma Senator Lewis Long (Democrat) wanted to repeal laws against bestiality and sodomy. Conversely they claimed that his Republican opponent opposed repealing laws against bestiality and sodomy, though she was not a member of the legislature at the time of the vote.
In truth, Senator Lewis Long did not support the bill, part of a large package meant to modernize antiquated portions of the criminal code. He lost the election by 300 votes and is suing the Christian Coalition for libel. The Christian Coalition had meant to target ED Long, not LEWIS Long. They made a formal apology. Senator Lewis is continuing with his lawsuit.

Pastor Eddie Gross, of True Vine Christian Ministries Church, has been accused of the murder of Chautelle Dupree, 22, a prostitute. Her nude body was found in the hallway of a motel near the convention center. She had been strangled.
Gross' car sports a license plate that reads "You Owe Jesus Too."

Sister Nirmala, a nun and leader of Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity, has been arrested for torturing a seven-year-old girl. It is alleged that a missing Sister Francesco burned the hand of the girl as punishment. The girl is the daughter of a rag picker too poor to care for his children.

Naked, Covered in Blood09.1.00 Dehli CA
David Lange, 18, was found naked by his decapitated mother, covered in blood, reading from the Bible. Deputies took Lange to a local hospital for treatment of a cut, and tests. He is being held for questioning.
Lange's boss sent him home from work, as he had been rambling continually, "I am not evil." He and his mother had often been heard arguing, according to a family friend, with Lange's mother calling him evil. They had religious differences.

Christians Chain Children09.1.00 Twentynine Palms CA
Three adults, John Davis, Carrie Davis, and Faye Potts, have been arrested on suspicion of child abuse and torture. Two boys, aged 12 and 17, were found in the trio's home chained by their wrists to bedposts. Another child that would be 16 disappeared ten years ago. Authorities are searching for his grave.
Signs posted outside the home read "God's Country," "Spirit of God," and "Jesus." The boys survived on a diet of bread and rice, and were not allowed to speak, except when reading from the Bible.
