OY, HOMEBOY!
08.19.99 Gulfport, Mississippi

Ryan Green, 15, is filing a law suit against the Mississippi school board for declaring the Star of David a "gang symbol" and banning it from the school grounds. Mr. Green received the pin from his grandmother. His father is Jewish, his mother is a Christian. When Mr. Green wore the pin to school a teacher told him to pin it inside his shirt "for his own good." Later the school board banned it entirely.

The ACLU and Southern Poverty Law Center have expressed an interest in the case. The ACLJ remains strangely silent.
