The Ku Klux Klan is being forced to pay civil damages of $37.8 million to Macedonia Baptist Church in South Carolina. Members of the KKK burned the church to the ground three years ago. The four klansmen who confessed to the burning are currently serving sentences in a federal facility.

Dr. Edward C. Allred had personally performed 250,000 abortions at last count, in 1980. The dedicated doctor ownes 21 abortion clinics in California alone and an interest in the Los Alamitos Race Course in Cypress. The money garnered from these pursuits allows him to be a generous contributor to conservative candidates in California.

One candidate, Assemblyman Scott Baugh, described as "anti-abortion," and an alumni of Jerry Falwell's Liberty University accepted a $25,000 contribution.

If this seems too strange to be true, consider that Dr. Allred was quoted in the San Diego Union as saying that poor black women on welfare are "burdens to us all" and that he wished to build a clinic in Mexico for free.

Assemblyman Scott Baugh sees no conflict of interest in accepting the money, "...we are not going to change each other's minds on abortion. We don't talk about it."

A coalition of conservative groups including Exodus, American Family Association, Christian Coalition, Family Research Council and others took out another full-page ad in today's Los Angeles Times proclaiming that "homosexuals can change."

The first sentence of the piece reads, "You might be shocked to know that most Christians who speak against homosexual behavior are motivated more by love than hate." Notice that they are not DENYING that they are motivated by hate.

The heading of the second paragraph reads, "Calling homosexual behavior sin is not anti-gay, it's pro-life." For years the 'pro-life' movement has picked on women, big bully men with their plastic fetuses and bombs. Now that it's gotten through their thick skulls that women are tougher than they first thought, they've decided to move on to gays. Once again, they've picked the wrong fight. While admitting that adultery and prostitution are just as wrong as homosexuality you won't see the 'pro-lifers' picketing massage parlors or strip clubs, that would be too dangerous, and for many, a little too close to home.

And while they claim that thousands of gays have "walked out of homosexuality...into sexual celibacy or even marriage" their results are dubious. However, if you want the REAL cure, adopt a SPICE girl! A recent report on Rick Dees radio show reports that beleaguered singer George Michaels has shacked up with defrocked singer Ginger Spice. This just goes to show that two can live on free publicity as cheaply as one.

The Oasis Christian Center has ripped off the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Hollywood Walk of Fame Design by placing a star for 'Jesus, the Son of God' on Wilshire Boulevard. The Chamber of Commerce, though irritated by the possible infringement, let it slide. The church hopes to create a 'Walk of Faith' with plaques dedicated to other religious 'stars.' Present at the unveiling were former Dodger Steve Garvey and actor Edward James Olmos (Do NOT get Harvey Keitel started on HIM!).

The Reverend Thomas Spisak, a depressed Roman Catholic priest, stabbed himself 88 times in the rectory. (That had to hurt.) He blamed the incident on two black intruders. Spisak is white. He is recovering in the hospital.

Guardian of family values, House Majority Leader Dick Armey, has instituted the Freedom Works award given to "acknowledge and recognize individuals who seek the personal and spiritual reward of accepting responsibility without reliance on government." The recipient of the award last March was the D.C. Center of the Family Missions. Armey was quoted as saying, "It warms my heart to see these young people doing all they can to help people in need."

However, according to the Cult Awareness and Information Centre (PO Box 2444, Mansfield Australia 4122), the "Family Missions," or "The Family of Love," or just "The Family" is the latest incarnation of the 60's religious cult known as 'Children of God.' In the past the cult attained noteriety for "sharing sexual partners among themselves and their proselytes (called 'flirty fishing') [as well as for alleged promotion of sexual relations among children and between adults and children]."

Representative Dick Armey is most famous for mangling the name of openly gay Representative Barney Frank. Armey called him "Barney Fag."
