HOW to GAIN ETERNAL LIFE A young man came to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?" Note that he did not ask whether he had to believe anything to have eternal life; he asked what he must do. Jesus then asked him if he had kept the commandments. The young man said, "I have kept them all; what do I still lack?" Then Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come and follow me." (Matthew 19:16-21) Note again that Jesus didn't ask him to believe anything; he just told him what he must do in order to have eternal life. How many people do you know who are headed for heaven?
