Jesus is Lord and God?

JESUS is LORD and GOD?

Most Christians claim that Jesus is Lord and God. But did Jesus make such a claim? Let us look at the gospel record.

"Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good" (Matthew 19:17).

"Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone" (Mark 10:18).

"The Father is greater than I" (John 14:28).

"I do as the Father commanded me" (John 14:31).

Not only does Jesus deny that he is God, he even denies that he is good. He never prays to himself or claims that he answers prayers. He always regards God as greater and more powerful than himself. Those who knew Jesus best - his family and neighbors in his hometown of Nazareth - never thought of him as a perfect God but as an imperfect man.

When his family heard the crowd, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, "He has gone out of his mind." (Mark 3:21).

He left that place and came to his hometown. "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him. And he could do no deed of power there, except that he laid hands on a few sick people and cured them (Mark 6:1,3,5).

The gospels clearly state that Jesus didn't act like God, he didn't claim he was God, and those who knew him best didn't believe he was God. And his dying words on the cross prove that he wasn't God: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46; Mark 15:34).

Please don't claim that Jesus is Lord or God. He didn't make such a claim himself, so why should you?
