Looks like we won’t be getting any answers about what’s going on inside Area 51 anytime soon. The man who created the Facebook event “Storm Area 51 – They Can’t Stop All of Us” has now canceled the “Alienstock Festival” after realizing how bad of an idea it really was.
Organizer Matty Roberts originally created the Facebook event as a joke but the response was astronomical after 2 million people RSVP’d to attend. Organizers never expected millions but did expect over 10,000 attendees at the September 20th festival.
They claim the cancellation is due to a fear of a “possible humanitarian disaster in the works” similar to the disaster that was Fyre Festival. Fyre Festival was a music event that promised luxury that ended up being a giant scam.
Roberts blames the owner of “The Little A’Le’Inn”, the original site for the festival, for not supplying “proof that things expected at this festival were in place”.
“Due to the lack of infrastructure, poor planning, risk management and blatant disregard for the safety of the expected 10,000+ AlienStock attendees, we decided to pull the plug on the festival,” according to the website for the festival. “We just don’t want anyone to get injured or stuck in the middle of the desert.”
Instead, Roberts now invites people to the “Area 51 Party” to be held at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center on September 19th where guests can “expect EDM artists and some unique art being displayed for an ‘out of this world’ gathering.”
