In a small neighborhood located in Jackson, Mississippi, residents are finding random bowls of mashed potatoes left on their property, cars, and mailboxes. According to the Belhaven residents, the bowls of mashed potatoes appear to be skin-on and buttered.

Jordan Lewis, a resident of the Belhaven neighborhood, spoke to the New York Post stating "We don't know if someone is just playing a prank or if someone just had a lot of leftovers." However, this type of behavior doesn't appear to be all that out-of-the-ordinary for this part of town. Residents are known to decorate their street signs and even plant Christmas trees in potholes.

So, while this mashed potato bandit may just be playing an innocent joke on their fellow community members, others believe it could be more sinister. Resident Sebastian Bjernegard, who almost stepped in a bowl of the potatoes explained: "'Some people were thinking maybe the mashed potatoes were poisoned to kill animals [...] I didn’t taste it. I have a three-second rule, so I didn’t touch it. But some people were worried.”

At the moment, law enforcement is not involved with the matter, although the neighborhood is on the lookout to discover who this potato prankster might be. The only lead at the moment is that those who have been targeted have connections to a local private Christian University.
