It isn't easy being famous and having one of the most recognizable faces in the world. Paparazzi follow you to lunch, fans stop you for selfies on the street, and you have basically zero privacy. Try doing that, but double time. Some celebs have to deal with their own fame, and someone else's.
These celebrities don't have just any old doppelgänger, they have fellow celebrity doppelgängers. Some of them find it flattering to be compared to another star, while others get pretty annoyed by it. One celeb even called out some tourists on camera for mistaking him for another actor. See if you can tell these stars apart.
Dramatic Drumming Duo
One of the longest-running lookalike friendships in Hollywood is between comedy actor Will Ferrell and the drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chad Smith. The two have long been aware of their resemblance, and often play up to it. Smith will wear "I Am Not Will Ferrell" shirts on-stage.
Smith has said he didn't think they looked alike at first, and when he and Ferrell met for the first time, Ferrel walked up and said, "You're very handsome," and walked away completely deadpan. The two recently played up their resemblance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon by showing up in the same outfit and having a drum-off.
Wizards And Hobbits Don't Get Along
Harry Potter and Frodo Baggins, or should we say Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood, are aware that people love to mix them up. Someone even took the time to make a pretty creepy gif of the two morphing together. The two were nice about it at first. The two would sign autographs as each other and have some harmless Twitter battles.
But now the two think the joke needs to die. If a fan mistakes Radcliffe for Wood, he won't sign their autograph or tell them who he is. The two have also jokingly threatened to fight each other. Long story short, be extra careful if you see one of them.
Battle Of The Redheads
Amy Adams and Isla Fisher are regularly mixed up in the press, by other celebs, and even their own families. Lady Gaga hilariously came up to Fisher after the 2014 Oscars to congratulate her for her performance in American Hustle, and Fisher couldn't bring herself to correct the pop star that it was actually Adams who won the award.
Both actresses have remained lighthearted about it. While visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live! Fisher released a mock PSA explaining the differences between her and Adams. Fisher even photoshopped Adams' face onto hers for a Christmas card and no one in her family noticed!
Battle Of The Redheads: Round Two
Another pair of redheads who spend most of their time correcting fans is singer Ed Sheeran and actor Rupert Grint. Some people had pointed out the similarities, but the comparisons exploded in 2011 after Grint starred as Sheeran's stalker fan in his music video for "Lego House."
It gets better. Fast forward a few years and Sheeran clearly didn't plan out his Halloween costume and improvised in the best way possible, by going as Ron Weasley. After Sheeran realized his latest album, X, in 2017, Grint once again impersonated the singer in an MTV special performance. We love that these two can continue to joke about their similar appearance.
Mark Whalberg Loves Being Mistaken
When you're as successful, talented, and rich as Mark Wahlberg, it doesn't matter if you're always mistaken for another successful, talented, and rich actor. Whalberg has admitted that fans often freak out, thinking he's Matt Damon and that he shrugs it off to avoid embarrassment and then tells the fans to go see the latest Damon film. It sounds like Matt Damon has his very own promoter out there.
Damon is also often mistaken for Whalberg, including being congratulated for his incredible performance in Ted. Spoiler: it wasn't him.
DILFs. Doppelgängers I'd Like To...
These two actors are easy to mix up because they're both incredibly good-looking, tan, brunette, 54-year-olds. Yes, you read that right, John Stamos and Rob Lowe are both 54 years old, and they're better looking than most of the men around you.
The two are complete jokesters about it and love to have fun when they can. Stamos recently posted a video while on vacation asking a tourist what they thought his name was. (They got it wrong). The look-alike jokes don't stop there. Both actors have been fuelling jokes for years that the two secretly dated years ago. It would be a little creepy, but they'd easily be the best-looking couple since Brangelina.
Pretty Little Liar, Meet Bar Liar
We're not diminishing any of Lucy Hale's accomplishments, but it must be pretty surreal to be compared to the most followed person on Instagram in the world. Hale and Selena Gomez have been compared for years due to their short statures, dark brown hair, and stunning features.
Being mistaken for another celebrity isn't always fun and games. Hale doesn't usually mind the case of mistaken identity, but she did take to Twitter back in 2011 to complain about a crazy fan who thought she was Gomez and tried to steal her phone so she could call Justin Bieber.
The Face Swap To End All Face Swaps
In one of the most disturbing instances of celebrity doppelgängers, Zach Braff and Dax Shephard proved to the world how similar they are in this face swap. Braff tweeted the picture recently but admitted that it was taken years before by Shephard's wife, Kristen Bell.
The two love to troll the internet with their doppelgänger status. Braff also tweeted a photo of the two high-fiving captioned, "It's like looking in a mirror" and Shephard has referred to his friend as his "long lost separated at birth twin." These two take the top spot for celebrity lookalike bromances.
These Two Started Their Careers Together
Natalie Portman and Keira Knightly have been mistaken for each other since they were children. The two actresses have been doubles since they both stared in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Knightly played the decoy for Portman's character and got the role because they looked alike. According to Knightly and Portman, even their mothers had trouble telling them apart on set.
The comparisons didn't end when they were teens. The internet continues to crop the pair side-by-side to gawk at, but recently their Star Wars lookalike streak extended. When actress Daisy Ridley was cast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, everyone was quick to point out how similar she looked to Knightly. Coincidence?
The Ryan Sandwich We'd All Like To Be The Meat In
TV might not be big enough for two Jimmy's, but we're more than happy to welcome both of these Ryan's in Hollywood. Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gosling are always being mixed up in the press and online and, we'll be honest, they're not helping anyone out. Both are Canadian, maintain a beard, have light brown hair, and a dreamy smile.
The two don't often joke about their mistaken identities, but Reynold's wife Blake Lively does. For his 41st birthday, Lively tweeted a heartfelt "Happy birthday, baby" but hilariously attached the above photo with showing only Gosling, with Reynolds cropped out.
Zooey Deschanel Doesn't Like Having A Celebrity Twin
People rarely compare the two anymore now that Katy Perry has a platinum blonde pixie cut, but back in 2009 there were even theories that Deschanel and Perry are secretly related. Deschanel was never very happy with the comparison though. People would claim she was out clubbing when she was actually home in bed, and Deschanel commented that while Perry seems nice, the two "live very different lives."
Perry rarely spoke about the comparison but recently broke down on a Livestream about changing her hair to get rid of the former Katy Perry persona. Having a doppelgänger definitely wasn't great for either of these stars.
Is Parker Posey Posing As Elizabeth Banks?
I seriously thought these two actresses were the same person for years. Elizabeth Banks and Parker Posey have completely different acting styles but look eerily the same. Banks is known for supporting roles in comedies, while Posey began as the queen of independent films and broke onto the scene in Dazed and Confused.
These two are one of the Hollywood lookalikes that fly under the radar. People are genuinely shocked by how similar they look. While everyone's busy face-morphing Elijah Wood and Daniel Radcliffe, these two might literally be the same person masquerading right under our nose.
Dwayne Johnson And The Rock Are Not Related
Every once in a while the internet explodes again because one person asks if actor Dwayne Johnson and WWE professional wrestler The Rock are related. Well, we hate to break it, but they are not related, because they are the same person. Johnson was a college football star but turned to professional wrestling. He was known to be one of the best professional wrestlers of the time.
Johnson transitioned into acting in 2002 starring in The Scorpion King. He's gone on to star in numerous movies, seven of them in just the last two years.
Ryan Reynolds Has More Than One Celeb Twin
Some celebrity lookalikes love to play it up. The This Is Me actor told Jimmy Fallon that he is often mistaken for Ryan Reynolds and he loves it. Justin Hartley was at a charity event when a woman began swooning over him, then asking him how Blake Lively was doing and commented on Deadpool.
Hartley quickly understood the woman thought he was Reynolds and said he was "insulted for half a second, and then I even felt better about myself.” Being mistaken for Hollywood hottie Reynolds is a huge compliment, but Hartley has nothing to worry about. He and his two co-stars were named to People's 2017 Sexiest Men Alive.
Double De Trouble
All terrible jokes aside, Portia de Rossi and Drea de Matteo do look an awful lot alike. De Matteo almost look like de Rossi is simply wearing a wig. I think it's the fact that they have a very similar smirk in their photos.
Portia has had a very successful career in comedy, starring as Lindsay Bluth in Arrested Development, while also being married to Ellen DeGeneres. de Matteo has had her moments in Hollywood as well, winning a. Primetime Emmy for her work on The Sopranos... while also playing Joey Tribbiani's sister on Joey.
Banks And Bowen
While I'm pretty sure I fundamentally know the difference between these two actresses, I'm growing less and less convinced that I could pick them out of a lineup if they were both standing there.
Elizabeth Banks has had a pretty full plate when it comes to movies, bouncing between hit movies like The Hunger Games franchise to guest starring on TV shows, like Modern Family. It was on the set of Modern Family that we first realized how much Banks looked like leading lady Julie Bowen. Bowne has played Claire Dunphy on Modern Family for almost a decade, where she's won two Primetime Emmy Awards.
Margot Robbie Or Jaime Pressly?
Alright, I'm convinced that Margot Robbie is just the unevolved form of Jaime Pressly after seeing them side-by-side. I knew Margot had a very familiar look, but I couldn't piece it until now.
Of course, Margot has skyrocketed into the limelight with a number of movies, most notably The Wolf Of Wall Street and Suicide Squad, while Pressly's biggest claim to fame was winning an Emmy for her role as Joy Turner on My Name Is Earl.
Two Great Comedians But Only One Good Beard
A running gag on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon has been when fans send in photos of people they think look like Fallon. He may have a lot of lookalikes, but fans have always insisted that his celebrity doppelgänger is former How I Met Your Mother actor, John Radnor. A fan tweeted the two actors side-by-side to Radnor, and he quickly responded saying "no."
Radnor readdressed the issue recently while visiting The Tonight Show. He jokes with Fallon that he gets mistaken for him “only like, a couple times a day.” If I were Radnor I'd milk the doppelgänger status just to hang out with Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel.
Mila Kunis Says Her Celeb Lookalike Makes Her Feel Young
Anyone can see the shocking resemblance between these two actors. Mila Kunis and Sarah Hyland both have striking and similar features. The two actresses have bonded over the confusion, and have even come to love it. Kunis told Hyland that she loves when people mistake the two because it makes her feel young even though Kunis is only eight years older than her.
For Hyland, being mistaken for Kunis is a huge compliment. She even asked the actress if it's okay to pretend to be her when a fan mistakes them. One time when a reporter asked Hyland about Kunis' role in Black Swan, she says that it was hard to avoid stirring up some trouble and yelling "Natalie Portman is a bad kisser!" We hope these two continue to have fun with it.
Bret Michaels Publically Mistook Eva Longoria For Kim K
No one would mistake actress Eva Longoria with mega-personality Kim Kardashian anymore. But back when Kim K was just beginning to make a name for herself and Longoria was on top of the world starring in Desperate Housewives, the two were commonly mistaken.
One of those mistakes was so public and blatant, the world collectively cringed. Back in 2013, Bret Michaels posted a photo to wish Longoria a happy birthday but posted a picture of himself and Kardashian. The internet was quick to call him out, and it didn't take long for him to post a new, correct photo.
There's Too Many Jimmy's On Late Night TV
Late night TV isn't big enough for two Jimmy's. Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel have battled it out for name-recognition for years. Even though the two don't look all that alike, one person mixed them up in a very public way.
Actress and Harry Potter alum Emma Watson was visiting The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in 2017 and began her interview by commenting that she loves the Halloween candy bit he does. Well, Fallon doesn't prank using Halloween candy, Kimmel does. Watson told TIME that “I died inside,” and it was made even worse because it was her first time meeting Fallon.
James And Dave Get Mistake All The Time For A Reason
These two actors are trying so hard to lead two separate careers, but they make it so easy to mistake them. James and Dave are brothers. The two Franco's are eight years apart but are regularly confused. James is best known for his stoner-flicks with sidekick Seth Rogan, but Dave has spoked out about trying to distance himself from his brother.
Dave admitted that people mistake them all the time because the "way we look and the way we talk is similar" but that they are very different people. The brothers went their separate ways for a few years but reunited last year to co-star in The Disaster Artist.
One Of These Two Has To Get A Different Haircut
It's hard to think of two actors who look so alike but have such different personalities. John Duhamel and Johnny Knoxville are confused so often that Duhamel actively shrugs off any questions about his doppelgängers.
Duhamel is an actor who got his start on the daytime soap opera, All My Children and transformed into a serious film actor and had an eight-year marriage with Fergie. On the other hand, Knoxville is a comedian and stuntman best known for his MTV show Jackass. We can't think of two more opposite doppelgängers.
Get On Their Levels
The music world is known for stealing things from each other, but it's pretty wild to see these two very different artists looking so much alike. Let's just look past the fact that Taylor Swift and Avicii could pass as brother and sister — they could legit pull off being twins!
Taylor Swift came onto the scene as a country singer before broadening out her style and adopting more of a pop-style of music. Avicii, tragically, died in 2018, but will forever be known as one of the great DJ's of our time.
Things Just Got Stranger
When you're a child star of a cult hit like Stranger Things, people are definitely going to compare you to some of the greats. Twitter went crazy comparing Millie Bobby Brown to Natalie Portman, and when you go back to her early work on Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace, it's easy to see why.
As Millie has been more and more in the spotlight, those comparisons haven't stopped. With her pixy cut hair, she looks more like Natalie than ever before! Considering Keira Knightley pulled off the Portman look to perfection early in their respective careers, the trifecta is now complete.
A Dynamic Duo
So they're not quite Batman & Robin, but they're pretty close. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Heath Ledger actually have a ton in common. The most obvious might be their connection to Gotham, with Gordon-Levitt playing Robin while Ledger famously portrayed Joker.
However, the two first ran into each other much earlier in their careers when they were both cast for cult classic 10 Things I Hate About You, where just about every teenage girl got to fawn over them for the very first time.
A Couple Of Comedians
These two Hollywood funny men have more in common than just their star appeal. Dane Cook at one point was one of the biggest comedians in the world, and was able to turn that into a hit-or-miss career as an actor.
However, his Hollywood lookalike Skylar Astin has star written all over him. Along with being a successful actor, he has shined bright as a musician with great comedic timing as part of the cast of Pitch Perfect. One day down the line, we could see these two in a big brother, little brother role.
Brunette, Blonde... Doesn't Matter
If you have never played the game 'Is this Bella Hadid or Jennifer Lawrence now's a perfect time to try. Honestly, if I didn't point out that one of these wasn't Jennifer Lawrence, would you have even noticed?
This is one of those lookalikes that you don't notice till you actually place them side by side. Lawrence, of course, has already built a stellar career in Hollywood, and was the highest-paid actress in the world in 2015 and 2016. Bella, on the other hand, is a worldwide icon in the modeling industry.
Two Very Different Teen Icons
It's pretty weird to think of the similarities between the Clueless series and The Twightlight saga, but both had a pretty profound impact on preteens of their era. Alicia Silverstone really broke onto the scene when she played the lead role of Cher in Clueless, and would later go on to play Batgirl in Batman and Robin.
Kristen Stewart had a very different journey to superstardom. After she picked up a Young Artist Award in Panic Room, Stewart would go on to eventually star in The Twilight Saga, which grossed over $3 billion worldwide.
Both Have Experience With The End Of The World
Whether it's on the small screen or the big, these two really could pass for twins. If you're watching on the TV at home, you might recognize Emily Kinny as Beth Greene from AMC's The Walking Dead. I was shocked to learn that Kinney was in her 30's, despite playing a teenage. Mind. Blown.
As for our big movie fans, you probably recognize Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood from the Hary Potter series. She also starred in the musical A Very Potter Senior Year.
I think the only logical thing to do now is to have Jon Hamm grow out his locks to see just how alike these two can really look. Who knows, Hamm might just solidify his next career starring as a cover boy for Harlequin books.
However, there is absolutely no way I want to see Fabio trim down his locks just to look a bit more like Jon Hamm. That would be an absolute insult to the man and that head of hair.
A Northwestern Connection
I consider these two actresses to be of very different eras, but shockingly, they are only seven years apart. Ana Gasteyer first found herself in the spotlight as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, where she starred from 1996 to 2002.
Kathryn Hahn has had her own moments in the comedic spotlight, with roles in both Anchorman and Step Brothers, which also dabbling in dramatic films. She even won a Primetime Emmy for her work in Transparent.
There's Something In Their Eyes
If you grew up in the '90s, you know all about Kelly Kapowski. Tiffani Thiessen starred as the bombshell in Saved By The Bell, before going on to star in Beverly Hills, 90210. It was on the set of White Collar where she was introduced to her lookalike.
Alexandra Daddario has had some guest roles on shows like True Detective and New Girl, but it was on the set of White Collar she met Thiessen. She actually started her career as a young girl on All My Children, which is a far cry from the Baywatch beauty she would become.
A Singer And A Senator
I can only image that Paul Ryan wishes he had the singing voice of Matthew Morrison. Actually, I can't say that for sure. For all we know Ryan has a wonderful singing voice. However, I'm sure he'd appreciate getting mixed up with Morrison every now and then.
Morrison, of course, starred as Will Schuester on the hit series Glee, and has even gone on to. release two studio albums. Ryan continues to serve as the Speaker of the House Of Representatives after running for Vice President alongside Mitt Romney.
These two have come to define what it means to be beautiful. Ashley Graham has been the face of countless magazine covers as one of the most recognizable models on the planet. She has also become a spokesperson for body positivity and body acceptance.
Eva Mendes appeared in several music videos before finally breaking through as an actress in Training Day. She would go on to star in movies like Hitch and The Other Guys, while also working as a fashion designer. I think the most obvious similarity between the two are the big, brown eyes that immediately draw you in.
Wizards Of The O.C.
These two both made a huge impact in Hollywood early in their lives, and continue to grow their celebrity status. Rachel Bilson landed her first big role as Summer Roberts on The O.C. which earned her essentially worldwide fame. He would go on to star in Hart Of Dixie, as well as the new show Take Two.
Gomez, of course, would star as Alex Russo on the Disney Channel hit series Wizards of Waverly Place. She went on release a number of hit tracks while jumping in and out of acting.
Two Kings Of The North
So, it's not fair to measure anyone against Robb Stark, King of the North. But Gus Kenworthy is a pretty reasonable lookalike. The freestyle skier wen on Twitter and Instagram to show that he, indeed, looked quite a bit like actor Richard Madden, who plays Robb in Game Of Thrones.
Kenworthy had fun with his lookalike, even commenting that 'they're on to us...' We see you Gus. As for Madden, his character might have (spoilers) died (you should know this by now) but he's bounced back with some romantic comedies, which should no doubt be an excellent career move.
All We Can Say Is Woww
If you know Jersey Shore (which we all do) you know JWoww, or Jenni Farley, apparently. After Jersey Shore, she and Snooki went and had a spinoff show, and are now starring in Snooki & Jwoww: Moms With Attitude.
As for Emmanuelle Chriqui, she made her name in Hollywood as Sloan in the HBO series Entourage. After the show ended, she continued taking acting gigs here and there, including an ongoing role in The Mentalist. The less we can say of her role in You Don't Mess with the Zohan, the better.
She Got It From Her Mama
Ok, so this one might feel like we're cheating, but hear me out. Reese Witherspoon's daughter, Ava Phillippe, looks EXACTLY like her. People on Twitter were pretty convinced that Witherspoon cloned herself to make sure there was always a younger version of herself roaming the world.
Things aren't all glamorous for the younger Witherspoon. Apparently, the Legally Blonde actress made Ava get a summer job when she was 17 at a pizza restaurant. If there's anything I've learned over the years, it's that that first summer job rarely becomes a permanent career.
Now I Can't Unsee It
One eagle-eyed fan noticed the picture of Kim on the left has never made her look more like her mother, Kris Jenner, and honestly, I totally agree. While the two of them have had a bit of plastic surgery over the years, there are still some very identifiable similarities between the two.
For starters, the eyes. They draw you right in and are pretty captivating. I think the other noticeable similarity is the smile. Again, they might be related, but it's pretty weird how much Kim looks like her mother.
