“I Don’t Feel Bad”: TikTokers Are No Longer Tipping At These Locations
Tipping can be a stressful situation. On the one hand, you want to be kind and help someone get paid. On the other hand, times are a bit tough right now so sometimes tipping doesn’t fit everyone’s budget.
Recently, some TikTokers have gone viral for sharing how they get by not tipping at certain places.
This Woman Won’t Tip At A Drive Thru
Chelsea.t_’s TikTok video reads:
“Discreetly tapping the “no tip” button when the cashier turns the screen toward you and feeling bad about it even though you have no idea why you should feel obligated to tip someone for handing you the drink you just paid for.”
Many sympathized with Chelsea’s actions. Saying things like, “The worst is self-serve yogurt places. Why am I tipping you when I made my own?”
And others admit they often feel pressured into tipping.
Who Is Biggblackpuffa tipping?
Another user, biggblackpuffa, uploaded a viral TikTok video that has received over 2 million views.
He simply records the iPad terminal at a restaurant and asks who he is tipping. Considering he’s taking his own order, we don’t know either!
Biggblackpuffa Has TikTok’s Support
Many people in biggblackpuffa’s comments section also agreed, they are over the entire tipping culture.
Plenty of comments were similar to, “I quit tipping anywhere unless I’m sitting down at a restaurant. Saves a bunch of money.”
Aubreygracep Shows TikTok The “Pressure To Tip”
Aubreygracep’s viral TikTok shows a customer “buying a latte,” and the “barista” turns her iPad around, and we see tip options.
The customer is going to press “no tip” however; the barista guilts the customer into giving a tip.
Aubreygracep’s Followers Agree With Her
Comments on Aubrey’s video are all saying the same thing, “I’m not tipping you for a drink that I’m taking to-go.”
And everyone agreed that they are over feeling pressured into tipping.
Maddiemischak Gives Us “Stares Into Your Soul Until You Tip”
The caption on another viral TikTok video reads “POV: I’m the employee at the self-serve yogurt store asking for a tip.”
In the video, she turns around the iPad terminal and stares at the “customer” in an attempt to guilt them into tipping.
Commenters Hate The Stare They Receive When They Don’t Tip
Many commenters on Maddiemischak’s video agree that they will not tip if they get stared into tipping.
Others did admit though, that as much as they hate the stare, they will sometimes give in to tipping.
TikTokers Fight Against Tipping Culture
So at the end of the day, it seems like TikTokers are taking a stand for everyone and asking the real questions.
Most people agree that tipping is good in certain circumstances (like for a waiter or a taxi driver) but the tipping culture has gone too far when places are asking people to tip at self-serve restaurants.
