When a person first enlists in the military, they start as an E-1, the lowest pay grade out of nine. Knowing people offer various skills and have different qualifications, recruitment officers will bump those able people up to an E-2 or even an E-3.

Life Insurance
As an enlisted member of the military, all personnel receives a life insurance policy. This insurance financially supports the member’s family if they were to pass away.
At only $29 a month, taken out of their paycheck, military personnel is eligible for up to $400,000 in Service Group Life Insurance.
