Actors That Took Things Too Far When They Refused To Break Character

Method acting takes things to the extreme.

It can be and actors aren’t afraid to push those boundaries. Even when they’re given the role of a lifetime, they take it way too far. Basically, they let the character take over their lives to the point where we don’t even know the person anymore. For some actors, looking the part isn’t enough, just ask Jim Carey. He knows a thing or two about that. Even though actors have gone above and beyond for a role, they usually get rewarded for their daring efforts- we’re talking about Oscar nominations and Golden Globes.

Heath Ledger played Batman’s arch enemy with much more passion than Jared Leto. While filming The Dark Knight, the Aussie actor stayed in a hotel room, wrote a diary based on the Joker’s thoughts while running on two hours of sleep. The late actor would posthumously win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2008.
