Unlike other actors who just take on a persona, Adrian Brody gave up all his worldly possessions to play a Polish Jewish refugee during the Holocaust in The Pianist. Brody gave up his apartment, sold his car, disconnected his cell phone, and even broke up with his girlfriend.

He said he wanted to learn what it felt like to lose everything.
