Not even money would come between these two. Before Star Wars was released, Lucas was freaking out thinking his beloved trilogy would be a flop. During a break from filming, Lucas visited his friend on the Close Encounters set, where he told Speilberg his film would be more successful than his.

Speilberg settled Lucas down by swapping 2.5% of their movies. Nevertheless, both movies would be a hit, but it was the Galaxy far, far, away that made the most noise. Lucas’ film made $755 million compared to Spielberg’s million. Add the inflation and the bet came out to $40 million.
