Schindler’s List is the most expensive black and white film ever made. In an interview on The Today Show, the three-time Oscar winner didn’t want to accept a single dime from the movie since it would be considered to be “blood money.”
Instead of taking the money, Spielberg decided to pay it forward. He donated the money from the film to the Shoah Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization established to further the remembrance of the survivors of the Shoah during World War II.
