Lucas stopped directing after the birth of his daughter 1983. Ten years later, Spielberg pulled him out of the cave to see his pal’s latest project, and that gave Lucas the fire to direct once more. Lucas’ eyes were filled with emotion as soon as Spielberg showed him the computer-generated T.Rex.
Lucas didn’t realize how far advanced his company, Industrial Light & Magic’s special effects had become. To him, that moment felt like a moment in history like the invention of the telephone. Thanks to the digital technology used to make the film, his company won its 13th Oscar.
