An editorial executive at Universal found work from the curious Spielberg and his short films. At 17 years old, Spielberg was working an unpaid internship which wasn’t much great since he wasn’t granted access to the studio lot. Not willing to waste away this opportunity, the aspiring director made a commitment.
He showed up every day and even snuck into the premises. His grades from high school weren’t enough to get into film school, so he took his own path. The determination to thrive paid off as Spielberg would direct his short film Amblin’, which w followed with the success of his TV movie, Duel.
