Spielberg’s mega-hit surpassed $100 million at the box office to emerge as the highest grossing film of all-time. The movie that was based on a book became a significant moment in establishing the modern Hollywood business model. It was followed by three sequels, none of which Spielberg participated in.

Interestingly enough, the film had production issues by going over budget and filming past schedule. The mechanical sharks used by the production crew suffered numerous malfunctions. Spielberg decided to that the shark’s presence needed a theme and John Williams was the composer who created the thrilling track.

Which movies were really about Spielberg’s parent’s divorce? More on that later.
