I think if they made Van Helsing in the 1930s golden age of monster movies, it would have been amazing. But they decided to make the vampire-hunter film in 2004, and it screams “mid-2000s movie.”

Even though it opened at #1, it quickly dropped down in ratings when people realized it was just a recycled plot with too much CGI.
