The New PlayStation 5 Gets A Release Date

It's been six years since Sony has released a new Playstation console. The successor to the Playstation 4 has been long awaited and Sony has finally confirmed the name and when the new system will be coming.

The company says it will be called "Playstation 5", though we never had any doubts about that considering the last four titles for the consoles. They announced it will be coming sometime at the end of 2020, just in time for the holiday season.

The highly-anticipated console will feature a new controller intended to give gamers a more immersive experience. It will have haptic feedback, which will replace the classic "rumble" effect with a "broader range of feedback."

"With haptics … crashing into a wall in a race car feels much different than making a tackle on the football field. You can even get a sense for a variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plodding through mud," said Jim Ryan, president, and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

The new controller will also have adaptive triggers, which will allow the player to feel resistance in more detailed manners. Wired had a hands-on preview and broke the story of the release. They said that the new controller looks "an awful lot like the PS4's DualShock 4." Sony is also showing off the console's new SSD, which means games will take up much less space.

For now, the company is being very hush-hush about the new product. Fans will have to stay tuned for more details about the release.
