In 1995, Kaczynski mailed “Industrial Society And Its Future” to several newspapers and said he would stop the bombings if published. The FBI wasn’t sure if they should, and while they were debating, Penthouse volunteered to publish it to stop the killings, but Kaczynski refused to let a “second tier” news outlet print it.
Thankfully, The Washington Post eventually published the manifesto that led to his capture.
