The FBI Totally Messed Up The Profile

The Unabomber case was one of the first to employ high-scale FBI profiling. The first profile they came up with said he would have above-average intelligence, connections to academia, and a dislike of technology.

This original profile was spot on, but the FBI threw it out. They went with a second profile which labeled the Unabomber as a blue-collar, entirely average airline mechanic. Big mistake.
